Key Milestones & Goal Timeline
Overreaching goals (7 years)
Setting up an inter-campus communication network utilizing established contact books by class representatives per institution per department per learning year. This approach directly by-passes bureaucratic bottlenecks which otherwise would slow progress.
These networks would also be used to facilitate the creation of campus leadership groups geared towards leadership training, citizenship engagement and voter sensitization. An avenue to test this would be creating local polls in campuses to ascertain the political pulse of students in schools. In the same vein, the sub-goal is to ensure students are a voting majority in elections moving forward so that they can have their interests ably represented.
Pilot Planting (3 months)
Our pilot region are the 92 federal and state-owned universities in Nigeria, as well as the 43 polytechnical across the country.
In this region our approach is to focus first on the primary concerns of the students – the quality and funding of education. We intend to galvanize the students’ will, and re-echo them within the State Assembly. This is also going to be the direction of the students’ votes; towards candidates who would place their concerns as essential. School fees will no longer be the major means of income to foot the salaries of the lecturers as stated during the 2021 budget review. With God on side our voice as courageous youths must be heard even across the federations.
Begin active conversation on a regional and national conversation on policy solutions towards addressing the issues with funding higher education in Nigeria to reduce the likelihood of strikes in Nigerian schools.
Immediate Future Goals (1 - 3 years)
Based on the established structure in Nigeria, we intend to expand this using social media networking primarily to a super-structure that would cover the West African coast (Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, etc) (1 year)
Scale up to tertiary institutions across Nigeria, and furthermore, across Africa (3 years)
Potential Benefits for Students
The organization would act as a liason and a voice between students across Africa and their respective school managements in regards to issues that impact the quality of students’ life, and education.
Access to scholarships and grants for development projects undertaken, and for students’ academic programs.
Potential avenue for starting a career in politics/public leadership, public policy, and the nonprofit sector.
